Meet Our Minister

A native of eastern North Carolina, Dr. Rick McDuffie has been our minister since February of 2001.    Rick holds a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy from Campbell University (1977).  After graduating from Campbell, he earned the Master of Divinity (1981) and Doctor of Ministry (1985) degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.  During his 25 years of ministry, has served churches in the two Carolinas and Georgia.

Rick was pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dunn, NC from 1991-1997, and also taught as an adjunct professor in the Religion Department at Campbell University during this time.
Due to upheaval in the denomination of his birth, Rick chose to study the Presbyterian way, take the Standard Ordination Exams (at 46 years old, and more than 15 years after his last seminary class!) and become a Presbyterian minister.  Though he still cherishes his Baptist roots, Rick has found a warm welcome in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and at Center Ridge.  "It's a great place to be!," he says.

Rick and his wife Debbie are pictured below with their 3 daughters (L-R) Sarah, Faith and Catherine.

Debbie, who assists Rick in his work, taught public school in Harnett and Johnston Counties for many years.  The McDuffies live on 6 acres of land and enjoy family activities, the country life and music.

Rick is also pastor at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, which has a "yoked" relationship with Center Ridge.
